It's not a racist thing, unless you really consider the world racist. Because any work this soul bro does in China...it's pretty obvious who the agent is.
Why don't people think the same when a smooth White guy does this? Because White guys don't fucking know boundaries. They travel wherever they want representing the crown and no one says shit. You see a Black guy play Bond EVERYONE questions him. Though Elba is hella' smooth, so was Billy Dee Williams. And that fool would be picked out in Harlem.
I think the franchise itself is pretty worn though. Maybe they do need some other Bond. Maybe a Muslim one, or Asian one or...yeah, you see how silly it gets.
A lot of the Bond thing does as come from Ian Fleming's stories, so it's strange to speak of the Blacks when he was so clear on some things. You're essentially re-writing Bond's history as well, which would make you have to tell a different story anyway.
Either way, watch it or don't or whatever. I don't think it's going to happen, unless "Black Panther" does gangbusters at box office And then...maybe.
Never underestimate the shill nature of the movie business. It is insulting that people think they should cater to Black community by swapping Black characters from White. It's actually pretty racist, but seems I'm the only one saying it. Because I've overheard Black folk say out loud they don't watch movies with White people problems in them. Hollywood pretends like it doesn't exist by swinging pendulum to absurdity.
