Man, that is young. The press is great, because all they show is his "fat photo." The guy was a whale. But he was one of the only standup comedians on "Last Comic Standing" I thought deserved to win. Though his personality carried him through the standup circuit, somehow that inevitable sitcom thing eluded him. Or he didn't care.
According to his publicist, he died of pneumonia.
That is a terrible way to go. A lot of old people die of it. Your lungs fill with water and you drown. Without really drowning. Like you would at a pool. It seems like your immune system just gives it up.
Ralphie made it seem really easy. Calm on stage. Enjoying his time. It's weird because I just did hear about his change in life. I recall hearing comedian Jay Mohr being really happy that someone with talent actually won.
A fat guy who spoke like a "G" was very rare indeed.
