This movie is really bad. It's good at fooling people that it's good. But it's bad. Depp is dumb. Winona says "I love you" to dumb Depp, with only one moment between them. Never explains why the scissor hands were temp for real hands. They wasted time focusing on a machine that has no bearing to the rest of the story. Everyone in the town is stupid.
At on point in the movie, the town leaves a dead teenage boy in the yard of the gothic castle. The cops, in this stupid world, wouldn't even consider going to investigate. And it's bookend by the dumbest reveal since "The Crying Game."
This movie doesn't hold up. And it's strange how much it's hold in high regard. Because it's Tim Burton? Luckily this movie didn't derail him, since he made a pretty good one with "Big Eyes." But DAMN! Is this movie stupid.
