"The Batman" poster

The new Batman flick starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz is a mopey slog. It's done well, but still...mopey. It takes me back to the 90's grunge era where everyone was emo'd out. I've no room to talk, because I was so maudlin. Seems being grim douche back then was the in thing. Everyone dressed in black and it rained all the time. Look at "The Crow" or "Se7en" for reference. There is obviously a massive influence to director Matt Reeves over this. The movie is okay. Slow burning and boring sometimes, it's essentially a police procedural by way of a guy in a costume. It won't play well with children under 11. May not even play well to the ones under 18 since this fucking comic book society has made it where bright circus colors with flashing lights makes for a movie. Bah! I says. The thing that bothers me about this movie is the attempt to shoehorn Catwoman into this adventure. In particular the poster. Around Los Angeles, the poster shows Batman and Catwoman. As if they have equal efforts in saving the city. No spoiler here, but Catwoman isn't a hero. She is a self-interested bad person whose only allegiance is to get what she wants (in this case save a friend/girlfriend/lover/who fucking knows). She doesn't give a shit about Gotham. Meanwhile, there she is on the poster. This is woke ass bullshit designed to do whatever it takes to have a woman...of color (in this instance) to have equal footing. Now if you watched the movie, you will get a sense that she has a lot to do. Honestly, take her out of it, it is still a movie. Her backstory was crammed in as horrifically as the history of the Waynes' and Arkhams' Perhaps I missed something in the actual comic books. Putting her on the poster signifies she has a big part in the flick which is misleading. Also the movie is called "The Batman" So fuck off Catwoman. Incidentally, Zoe Kravitz has no clue what sensuality means. She google eyes Batman with the same dead eyes as Mama Lisa Bonet. She should've studied Mama in "Angel Heart" Got-damn she is smoking hot in that. Instead, Zoe seems like she's in some costume party for bondage and is brand new to the scene. She doesn't appear to be street wise in the least. I am glad Warner Bros. is attempting something a LITTLE different. Making Batman a detective, for once. If you look back at the Joel Schumacher years, you think this The Batman lives nowhere near that circus. By the way. Not sure why anyone liked Tim Burton's '89 "Batman" It's shot really poorly. It doesn't have the grim-ness of this one. Considering Gotham is a Hell-hole. Perhaps if you took the dimness of this flick and put it in '89 Batman you'd have the perfect picture. I always thought Kim Basinger was too horrid to be Vicky Vale. Original Sean Young would've added a lot more maturity. No offense to Kim, but she is limited in roles she should be taken. OR!...she needs to accept herself as she is. I recall her playing a mother in a movie and it seemed like it pained her to be matronly. She looked like an Encino MILF, botox'd to all Hell.
