On Woody Allen @ Cannes
"master of ceremonies Laurent Lafitte shocked the audience when he said:
“It’s very nice that you’ve been shooting so many movies in Europe, even
if you are not being convicted for rape in the U.S.” The joke, which
drew gasps from the Palais audience"
Take that Polanski.
Did you know...when he was being accused of an early transgression, he was about to release "Husbands & Wives" (1992) which didn't do all that great of business. Some say because of the allegations. It seems if you put yourself in these positions, the press will love to find ways to milk a story from you. Even over 20 years later. The point being...if you consciously fuck with the public. They love nothing more than to burn you in effigy. Sorry, it's part of the price that's paid for celebrity.
