It happened in 2013 as well. Mostly for some dickheads to leverage others to bend a little. Find a compromise. This s where Trump really gets tested. Because although he IS a loser, he doesn't like to lose.
It's actually pretty well shown in "All The Money In The World." John Paul Getty, the richest man ever, and in the history of the world would not spare couch change to free his grandson. It wasn't until he found a way to win the deal is when it went through. And it was a shitty thing to stand back and watch why someone would put that over human life.
That's what the Democrats are attempting to do. But they are making their party consider whether or not illegal (yes let me repeat, ILLEGAL immigrants) is worth missing a few paychecks for our military. Both sides have a valid point, except...I'm not sure the military sees it like that.
If I were Trump...I'd put my own money where my mouth is...pay the soldiers who do not get paid out of pocket or some fund we KNOW you have. Or maybe his daughter sets up free stuff for the military until this blows over. Can you imagine the PR he'd get. "Trump cares more the military than Democrats combined." But he doesn't think like that. He would consider it a loss. Most wealthy beyond mortals love the deal. Love to sweat out their opponents. In this case, both sides are willing to gamble lives and that is WRONG.
It's hardball tactics I think is going to hurt the Left in the end. But it is funny imagining Trump with a party fez on his way to Mar-lago to celebrate his inauguration only to be turned back and can't go. That must be a tiny victory to the Dems. Petty, yes, but I'm sure this was probably all it was.
