The shitting on men continues.
When actor James Franco won the Golden Globes for "The Disaster Artist" a slew of people came out to rant about how he is a sexual predator and an assaulter.
Ally Sheedy even tweeted out: “James Franco just won. Please never ever ask me why I left the film/tv business.”
Presumably this is because he assaulted her way in some fashion. Whether emotionally or physically. Or saw something. It's hard to the turmoil of a former "it girl" working in the shadow of the future. It's unfortunate and most likely why women didn't speak up. But you have to wonder why these statements weren't made before the fact (incidentally, I was the one who knew about Franco's nuttiness and penchant for young girls...yes, folks, it's another known thing).
I don't like Franco in the least. Think he's a phony artist and phony "serious actor." He got into movies the same reason a lot of us did, to get girls. But now, it doesn't work like that anymore. He will change but not before he gets over this massive hurdle. The same that Louis C.K. will have to leap over. The thing with these two though...they find their own material. They aren't at the mercy of studios. So they can continue doing what they're doing without having to beg for money. CAVEAT: they will have to use their own money (which Louis CK does not sure about Franco). This frees you up, but you are still beholden by the distributors. In this case, they will have to have a lot of faith in their fanbase to fund their muse, if it is the thing that truly drives them. Let's say I got caught in a sex scandal. I'd still spend my own money to make movies. Though, you wonder if anyone would want to work with you and get blacklisted too. This the tight rope of an industry that will shun you over anything. The "business" is taking over the "show."
