This movie is REALLY REALLY fun and adorable. I recall watching the original one and charmed by its fairy tale book feel. Folks, the sequel is actually better.
The story is of Paddington settling in with the Brown family. He now wants to get the aunt that adopted him a gift for her birthday.
So he gets a job...or should I say...jobs. A very overworked montage ensues full of antics. BUT...it's not a throwaway moment. The payoff comes later. This movie is full of great set up and payoff. It is smart. Too smart for the kids I watched it with, so adults will enjoy the humor.
Paddington finds a pop-up book that shows the sights of London. And decides this is the perfect gift. Unfortunately the book also has a neat secret.
I LOVE this movie. It's buoyant in a world of anger. The thing with Paddington is that he is optimistic and sees the good in people. Even when they show him nothing in return. Yes, there is a dig at Trump in this movie. It's very subtle, as it points its finger more about visitors like Paddington who are treated as guests. A very small point in an otherwise amazing story. It's a ton of fun and if you want a little bit of smart escapism, this is the movie for you.
