DETROIT — His arms wrapped around his wife and two teenage children, Jorge Garcia's eyes welled up Monday as he looked into their eyes near the entrance to the airport security gate.
His
wife, Cindy Garcia, cried out while his daughter, Soleil, 15, sobbed
into Garcia's shoulder as they hugged, with two U.S. Immigration and
Customs Enforcement agents keeping a close eye on them.
After
30 years of living in the United States, Jorge Garcia, a 39-year-old
landscaper from Lincoln Park, Mich., was deported on the Martin Luther
King Jr. holiday to Mexico, a move his supporters say is another example
of immigrants being unfairly targeted under the Trump administration.
An
undocumented family member brought Jorge Garcia to the U.S. when he was
10 years old. Today he has a wife and two children, all of whom are
U.S. citizens.
San Francisco has their shit all fucked up. As does Detroit.
Instead of deporting and hanging onto that shitstain that killed Katie Steinle on the pier in San Fran, they deport a guy who paid his taxes and raise a family. Now the bureaucratic bullshit begins for Jorge who has no clue that the wheels of law run molasses slow. Enough that you want to blow your brains out. Seriously, when the United States doesn't profit from you, they move at glacial pace. Meanwhile, these fucking idiots in San Fran, to stick it to Trump, were more than happy to fast track the filthy miserable 4 times deported Mexican to freedom...to murder.
A case by case basis is also based in common sense. And I realize we can't pick or choose our laws we want to follow. But it seems different cities seem to pick the least opportune time to do so. Why not a warning? Maybe there were. But the guy was too busy..working and paying his taxes to the same people who are booting him from the country. Can you imagine how pissed Jorge should be? Paying money to the same people who want him out? The guy had been here since age 10. Who the fuck does he know in Mexico at this point?
Maybe this is a fluff story meant to build up tolerance for illegal immigrants. But sometimes...it's heartbreaking.
