No...not the guys in movies that get thrown through plate glass. Stunted, as in mentally plateau'd at childhood.
I notice a friend who collects toys. A few people actually. This is typical nerd behavior. I'm guilty of dumb stuff collecting too. Nothing as...let's say...I wouldn't change my schedule over it. This dude does. And he's endearingly pleasant so it's hard not to share in his joy. But goddamn is this world going to be a wakeup call.
Stunted people don't really see other humans as...potential danger. Stands to reason a stunted person has very little experience or is unaware of this. Or they're in denial. Conversely, a cynical person has but a few examples of bad experiences to ruin a lifetime.
I don't mean to make "stunted" sound like a bad thing. In a better world, the stunted person is what we all aspire to. A world where everything is a McDonald's toy. And ice cream cones are a quarter. And everyone works together to enjoy life as long as possible. In that case, it's great to drag feet until reality sets in. Sometimes it will be expressed in other ways. Perhaps a stunted person is a higher plane of thinking that keeps trauma at bay.
