A very polarizing guy.
John McCain was that guy who ran for President of the U.S. in 2008, for all those too young. I liked the guy then, and thought he was going to win. But Barack Obama beat him and the rest is history.
What makes this interesting was, McCain was a bomber pilot who was shot down in Vietnam and held as a prisoner of war for five years. Can you imagine that? Pretty amazing to have survived that. I whole heartedly respect the guy and would've been much happier with him as President. Seemed less abrasive back then. During his last years, he seemed to have been (what Conservative media called) a Republican In Name Only. Which is their way to insult a guy who has liberal leanings. Very vocal in his distaste for Donald Trump.
I'm sure he had the inside scoop, in terms of the ugliness of the man. Or others around him. But he is a politician. Much like Hilary Clinton and Obama. And ESPECIALLY George Bush, so my gripe with him is that he was happy to stay the course.
He was fairly old back in 2008 when he was running for prez and happily made fun of himself over it. Shows like Saturday Night Live showcased him because he was willing to be the butt of their jokes. But he still lost.
What is really curious is why the Left is fawning over him now. As a Republican. Because he openly went against the dreaded Trump? That you think he took the high road of morality because Trump is a monster? As long as you admit to that...I'm cool with it.
His days come to an end now, so what's next for Arizona? Who knows? Senators seem to be useless (with all due respect). Bickering with one another and nothing gets done.
