Directed by Peter Weir (one of my favorite underrated directors), this movie is about a man, Max Klein (Jeff Bridges) who walks away from a plane accident as a hero and the most annoying person on the planet. Though many tout his ability to be calm in the tragedy. He spends the entire movie in some shitheel annoying walking coma. Appreciating the small things in life (duh!). And finding some meaning in death (ugh!).
Let me clear something for you Bridges nut sucking losers...the guy is a HORRID actor. Always has been. Stoners have lifted him from mediocre son-of-Lloyd, brother of Beau to...a God. He's terrible.
Here's what to expect from this overrated turd.
"words, words, words, sniff...pearl of wisdom, self-effacing word, words, sniff, sniff...a string of words" Seriously, watch every movie this dumbfuck is in.
Which didn't dawn on me until this fucking movie (I know, I said glowing things about him in "The Only Living Boy In New York"...he's not in it much).
What we've passed as "natural acting" is him..CONSTANTLY sniffing between words. The fuck? Is that confidence?...arrogance of dialogue proficiency? This is the worse, because he is committed to this shitty character. Because Max is moved by a plane accident. Everything that transpires during this movie is exactly how it should unfold. You know who was worse (and was nominated for a fucking Oscar?!) Rosie Perez. This nails-on-chalkboard "actress" got beat in the Oscars by Anna Pacquin.
Wanna real laugh. Towards the end of this flick...Rosie, so guilt ridden for not holding onto her child during the flight resulting in his death, inspires Bridges to drive head on to a brick wall as she hold onto a toolbox. This is what shows her that letting go of her child was inevitable. Yup. The toolbox goes through a windshield and Bridges goes into ICU. This teaches her that she wasn't at fault. Yep, he purposely hits a brick wall with a car. It's so ridiculous her boyfriend played by Benicio Del Toro needed to ask about it. In the movie.
God, how did this not derail Bridges' career. Oh right, he's Hollywood legacy.
This really destroyed my respect for Peter Weir.
