Kellyanne Conway In Da' Hizzy!

Alright, I'll say it. This looks like some insane gang-bang about to happen.
Kellyanne Conway looks like a sorority girl thrown into a circle of guys ready to rail her. And that is fucking hot.
Or not.
Or is.
Black or white this orgy seems pretty dope, considering the Orange One stands front, center and smiling. She's so fucking dumb, she doesn't even realize there is a photo being taken.

I dunno, people are making a fuss about the very low rent nature of this administration. Which I can't blame them for. Though, it's funny that the Left who love informal living is so stuck with a rod up its ass over this.

Casey Affleck And The Curiously Quiet Crowd

I had no idea. Didn't follow the story. Casey won Best Actor and it seemed like such a let down. For me, a massive let down only because Denzel Washington for "Fences" was stronger. But whatever. For Hollywood and its holier than you attitude. It was because Casey was accused of rape and he paid them off.

This happens...oh...every day when I use to work for this other company. Beautiful young women worked as secretaries and the first hot piece you saw when you first arrived. There were 3 cases where the girls sued for sexual harassment and the company would pay them off rather than bad publicity. Were they guilty? Most likely. Were the girls looking for payday...oh yeah. And these are also the people who want you to believe Trump is bad. See, celebrities are prone to this type of bad behavior. A lot of women will claim sexual harassment also if their advances  weren't reciprocated. Bad choices now live on internet and people know this can ruin you. Imagine if we'd have a Frank Sinatra if social media existed.

Anyway Hollywood, rewarding Casey is sending a message similar to what Meryl Streep cannot defend, which is...a bad decision thrown to public opinion is still only one perspective. Streep has zero ground to stand on when the crowd cheering her (as I've said) are also the ones accused of crimes.

Oscar Telecast Low Ratings

Oscar took a massive beating. Lowest ratings in decades which says a lot about America's disgust of people who are self-important narcissistic dicks. I happen to be one of them.

Most businesses take to denying their political affiliation with hot button politics. Hollywood not only spews them out, they reward each other for it. Case in point, how much did they love themselves over how many "Black movies" there were. The movie "Get Out" essentially draws light to people who cheer a little too hard for the plight of Black people. The truth is...Hollywood could care less. Green is all that matters. But soon, that will turn on them. The American public has already gotten sick of phony causes for the police vs. Blacks. No one seems to care BUT Hollywood. They seem to take a lot of joy in rattling middle America. Under then guise of social injustice. Pretty soon, this business will have to adjust if it wants to survive. Majority of Americans don't want to see these inner city melodramas anymore. They weren't going to already.

I personally feel the biggest way to integrate completely is to beat the movie business at its own game. Jordan Peele out did M.Night Shamalan in "Get Out." And was enough of social commentary to not be annoying. "Hidden Figures" showed functioning Black middle class with very little gang garbage cheaper movies would rely on. The biggest respect was to act like life moved forward despite color of skin.

Hollywood will need to change. It won't be the other way around. The first shot over the bow has already been fired, and most of America are fed up with rewarding whiners. Strike that, whiners rewarding themselves.

Gut Punch

The terrible thing about bad news or hurtful news, gut punches are the worst. Life feeds you a lot of these. As you age, the less it bounces back. People cannot help how they feel. For instance, I can feel anger that life isn't fair, my perspective isn't someone else who may get the job, girl or money. But there is always someone that considers your fortune and wishes they were you. It's the ebb and flow of life.

I have very little to complain about. Neither do people who are more fortunate. But again, I think we don't have the luxury of understanding others have it worse. I believe the more you don't see the good, the longer you will suffer.

Oscar Win For Film

If you've read my shit, you know I love film. And movies shot on film. "La La Land" was shot on film. And finally, a movie shot on film was recognized.

Why is that important? No one cares. That is fact. But for a stunning looking stylized movie to win. It means it's a viable option still.

This was a film heavy year. "Hidden Figures" "Jackie" "Nocturnal Animals" all film shoots. And us traditionalist thrive on these details. It means we can still shoot on the medium we love.

It is clear, there are people okay to move on. "Moonlight" won Best Picture and was shot digitally. To me, it functioned perfectly for the story. Though, any filmmaker has that itch to still touch cinema from the past. I'm certain, they would have shot on film had their budget been nothing.

I'm sure the social media backlash of "La La Land" stole votes from them. Trump being prez most likely caused this "diverse" crowd to vote with their conscience and not with their common sense. "Moonlight" wasn't a terrible choice at all for Best Picture. In fact, it's much better than the past years.

Maybe this is the final spin we've taken to completely excise glamour from Hollywood. That a rollicking song and dance is too passe for social warrior Hollywood. Political as the awards may have been (Casey Affleck over Denzel?) I'm stoked to see what the next year brings. Hopefully they'll re-release "Get Out" It is a smart psychological mind bend.

Crazy Broad

There are some painfully beautiful women out there that have the strangest taste. I recall a beautiful high school girl who would go out with some dude who looked like an ogre even though wavy Brad Pitt look-a-like was pining for her.

That answers many questions for us dateless wonders. For the most part, women will like whom they like. None of us...and I mean NONE of us guys can do anything about it. They either really are into you or not. The tip off is if they hang on your every word. And laugh at your stupid stories. Pretty obvious.

It is all genetics. So, most of us should stop trying so hard. You can control a small bit of it. Like...deodorant. that's about it. The other thing is so deep in our genetics. There is no explanation. I hope that helps some of you.

Bill Paxton Died Today

No "game over" jokes from me. This sucks, bad.
BIll Paxton was the first actor I've ever seen who was happily being the chum. As Hudson in "Aliens" he was the guffawing frat boy military yontz whose bravado became cowardly, turned bravado was inspiring. The jokester character redeem themselves.

His folksy nature was good natured and didn't seem like he had a vindictive bone in his body. Which is more than likely how he stood out in this godforsaken industry. Between him and director James Cameron, they had a great dynamic to flesh out a guy's guy. Not George Clooney caliber, someone we could hang with.

It seems worse that it may be a botched surgery that caused this. More info most likely to present itself.

"Get Out" (2017)

What is surprising to me is why this movie was not released at the end of last year, because based on word of mouth, it's going to make some serious money and make writer/director Jordan Peele more of a household name.

The story is simple. Chris Washington (Daniel Kaluuya) a Black guy and Rose Armitage (Alison Williams) his white girlfriend visit parents in the country. The father is a doctor (Bradley Whitford) the mother a psychologist (Catherine Keener). An eerie place being in the woods when you're a Black man. The parents have an over exuberance for Black people. They go out of their way to prove it. As most progressives do. Perhaps to hide their true feelings of evolution. Whatever the case, they are creepy. Funny but creepy. What ensues is a fantastic one location freak show. Psychologically mesmerizing and paced perfectly to the general mood. Thr performances are fantastic. We are wondering the same thing Chris is...why does this family desperately need to include him. Then the horror begins. Though, not for who you think it will be for.

Cinematically familiar, if you've ever seen psycho-dramas like "Gaslight" or 70's Roman Polanski, the music borrows heavily on those single chord plucks, and buzzing violin dissonance. It's unnerving study in space, style and clearly a moviemaker who knows the right movies to reference.
Fum stuff.

Feelings Nothing More Than, FEEELINGGGS...

When I stopped drinking, I lost an emotional core. Booze really designated the emotion I was feeling. Calmed my anxiety. Then made it worse.

The thing that I was told that comes back is emotions. Wild swinging ones sometimes. Mood swings. Anger, jealousy and rage. It keeps you up at night.

I've been managing but still angry. Most likely Small Dude Syndrome. Maybe never feeling adequate. It is uncontrollable. Much like others with similar anger issues.

I cannot tell you why it's coming back. But, this past week has hit me pretty hard when it comes to dealing with emotions and people. Perhaps I've lost friends this way.

It feels like high school again. Not sure why. But, I get this sickening feeling that maybe the cool kids are doing something without me. Or excluding me. The temper sets in, and I most likely lash out. Being taken for granted has that sorta thing happening. But is it real? I can't even tell.

I hope it goes away. The anxiety makes my head pulsate. I take offense at stupid things. Where some people have no idea what they've done. It feels that I may be better off as a hermit. Maybe.

Ego

I was invited to a party today where it's thrown by a friend for another friend, for his promotion. The friend throwing it, is a woman. The other a guy. She gushes over his talent, intelligence and humor. I see him as a hired hand. Therein lies the hit to the ego.

I remember on a short film I made in college a similar thing occurred. He ended up dating that girl. It ended for him miserably. Ot not. That's life, right?

What bothers me is that close people tend to overlook each other. For the sake of illustration, let's call it "Thr Duckie Situation" Remember that Duckie was Jon Cryer who was gawky and weird who pined for the affections of Molly Ringwald. Constantly overlooked despite his willingness as her best friend. Logic dictates she would get a clue and they would become more than friends. Didn't happen in movies. Doesn't happen in life.

In life....we simply look for our own interest. I feel slighted as not a single nod in terms of accomplishments I've made. Meanwhile, she fawns over something she doesn't even get rewarded for.

I choose to not attend this party as I know the resentment would only build. My defense? Move on. Which isn't the most mature, but really the most that does the least damage. Will Inbe villified at party? Possibly. Who knows. I know I couldn't face myself if I sucked it up and allowed slights to happen. I hope you are wired differently.

Yes, believe or not, I am a 40 year old dude.

I Got Myself a Bike

"I got myself a bike" I blurted out to the cute Russian neighbor girl as she walked by.

She had earbuds on. She removed them and smiled "what?"
"I just got a bike" I said proudly like a retarded child.
She smiled again "it's very nice" her voice was elegant and deep. Much bigger than her frame. Like I imagine Natalie Wood would sound like.
"I hope to get one soon too" she continued.
"Ah, it's great" as if I just gave her the secret to happiness.
"You can go everywhere with one" she laughed. Clearly amused our conversation was banal.
"Totally" I concluded "well, see ya!"
A bright smile came across her face. Maybe uneasy a stranger was speaking to her, moreso a stranger that looked like me. She started walking. She took a few steps turned and said "have a great day!"

I beemed. Not sure why. But the warmth of a friendly smile. I took off on my bike. Nevermind it was a girl's bike. The wind on my face felt...great.

"Fences" Was The Best Movie Of 2016

This isn't a gripe about why, or whether or not it should win. Only that if you boil down what acting is..."Fences" blew it up...big time. It was my personal favorite to win because it didn't require any special effects, guns, explosions...just a quiet movie about family life in the 50's that weren't so idyllic. It was a perfect story in terms of relevance to life...in general. It's what I consider a future proof movie. Which means, in 100 years it still resonates. I could argue "Hidden Figures" as well. Since it is a moment in history of the NASA science program. Does "Arrival"? NO...it will eventually be overshadowed by another movie with a better theory. Does "Hacksaw Ridge"? NO. It's a fun war movie. But at the end, I'm not sure you get any further with your stance on war. How about "Manchester By The Sea"? That movie is so specific to the area, it's hard to know. And the moments in his life are monumental (without ruining the story ,tragedy strikes this young fellow early and has to come to terms through interpersonal relationships with a family member through another tragedy).
I didn't see "Hell or Highwater" or "Moonlight."

"Moonlight" sounds like a great premise. Somewhat like "Dallas Buyers Club" but if I stumbled onto DBC, I wouldn't want to sit through 15 minutes again. Great performances can fool you to believing great story.

"Fences" rings true in terms of longevity. Father and son, husband and wife, man and friend we're all that. Though most of us can't get past the theatrics of Denzel.

I was curious about two movies that didn't make it..."Nocturnal Animals" and "Jackie" Nocturnal Animals" is a crushing movie as in a compendium to something like "Eternal Sunshine Of A Spotless Mind." It's about living in the past and how we are crushed by our own inability to get past it. In "Eternal..." there is a facility to assist with killing those memories, in "Nocturnal Animals" the writer was able to exorcise his demons through his writing through the eyes of the woman who jilted him, though we don't get the journey through him personally. They both live in a bittersweet, melancholy world of hard love lost.

"Jackie" was a hard watch. I never got the sense Jacqueline Kennedy was anything more than arm candy. Maybe she was. It was never that interesting to me. The tragedy that struck her husband solidified a toughness past the cameras monitoring her every move that was the curious part. Fuck, I can't even have dizzy spells without worrying about if a complete stranger on the bus would scream. Jackie had the world watching when she would snap. Not sure if we were suppose to pity her. But it was an odd balance between her resilience and what we thought she would snap. I'm not sure also...the reason for the movie. A lot of us can assume life will move on. But we never do get past the surface of a woman who moved on to marry wealth for self-preservation. Is that fascinating? In this world, we expect women to steel up. Which may be another reason why roles are starting to be blurred.

"Fences" is a long shot. Though, it really shouldn't be. It was a solid story, acting and drama. The best American story, simply what a Best Picture should be.

Oscars So Rigged!

First off "Duh!"
Second, it's not the People's Choice Award. It's voted on by actors about a movie about actors...acting. And it's a fucking sweet hoofing number.

Obama's 8 years fucked your brains up to think everything should be about anger and social injustices. FUCK YOU! Eat shit. Eat two bags of shit. I liked "La La Land" LIKED!...but it's not culturally relevant other than to stick it to social warriors. So fuck you and fuck off.

The other movies will never...yes I said it, NEVER be another blip after it disappears off the Oscar radar. Remember "Spotlight"? No? Yeah, because it looks like shit, and boring as fuck. Do I want to spend my life following people following priests who are pedophiles. Shit no. I'd rather dance and think the world's fine. Because movies are escapism. Since when did it become about teaching you jerks a thing or two about anything? Was "Gone With The Wind" a lesson anywhere. No. Fucking entertainment. So, much more the irony behind social injustice warriors taking accepting entertainment over...hot topics.

We all know the Oscars are rigged. Rigged to pat themselves on the back. So what? I was pissed when "Birdman" or something won. Another story of actors loving actors. It's theirs to do what they want with. If you watch, it's your own damn fucking stupidity.

The Big City

People think that if you can uproot and live in a big city, you can conquer anything. While this is somewhat true, I don't feel we're all that different in terms of surrounding ourselves with a support group. This is where things get messy. Since, in big cities, seems people tend to keep to themselves.

I think I've been raised with values of a bygone era. Not that I wish for days of oppressive censorship, but somehow we've equated the freedom of speech with saying anything the Hell we want. We tend to forget the other half of that, which entails sympathy. So we're left with people angry with each other. Meanwhile, as we're blaming left, right and center there are also people who just lick your pocket, leaving you helpless. The issue with living a free and easy life in the big city is...nothing is free. Everything comes with a price. Maybe in the Midwest that lrice isn't as steep as it is in urban areas. You must always weigh your sanity. Because in some cases, that will be all you have.

I have nightmares here. Tempered by good memories of what I was always able to accomplish. Nowadays, no one cares what was behind, only in front. Most people get steamrolled because you do lose momentum. A boulder rolling can/will continue to give you push back. The best thing to recommend is always...always...always know someone or ones are there to help with the load.

Being a man in the movie business is a weird role. You have to be a shameless salesman, a numbers cruncher, pragmatic and, oh right, creative. Most people will drop a few of those because it's too much.

If I gone back to my younger self with much more energy, I would've hustled harder and drank much less. Or not drank at all.

I don't blame booze at all. I blame me.

It's simply that you have so many thoughts of the movie world when you're young. As you get older, the factory floor starts to be old hat. Many people I've seen past 40 now know what this looks like.

Again, I would never discourage newcomers to do their best to break in. With your enthusiasm I would suggest finding someone who has none and is established. In the meantime make lifelong friends. They are who you constantly see going up or coming down.

The Mental Juggle

Someone is always better looking than you, smarter than you and make more money than you. What really draws this to focus is when you surround yourself with toxic people. Even worse when they become people that cannot help themselves.

Entertainment business requires women and men be tough as nails, but sensitive enough to know motivation and story. The plight of struggle.

When I was younger I did things for women thinking my kindness would be rewarded. I think this is because of movies. The girl who liked the bad guy would eventually see you as a good person. You can't help yourself into that role, absolutely convinced she would get wise and realize she was in love with you all along. It worked once. Well, not really, because after years, it soured...bad. So, I guess it doesn't work.

What happens when friends in creative ventures turn on one another? Simple, you move on. It's a terrible feeling to abandon or be abandon but that is a gypsy life many have come to terms with. It's a harsh life. Creative abortions are sometimes much more painful than romantic ones. It works at the core. Creative energy takes so much more. Wonder why writers drink heavily. It's to dull the pain of loss. Everything is loss. Losing your creative control. Losing hard fought ideas. Losing your mind. Overthinking it all.

Then you get something and must live with what it is. Whatever it may be. If you saddle this with any of your day to day...you wonder how any of us survive it. I wonder too.

Transgender Bathrooms

Trump is planning on repealing this transgender bathroom thing. Basically, allowing transgenders to use bathroom they identify with. Damn, too quick for me to take advantage of this situation.

I'm not even sure why we wasted our times on this. If a transgender went into the men's room and took a fat hairy dump in the toilet, I wouldn't be the wiser. I'm sure that person was there simply to take a shit (as we all do) and leave. Not stick around to look at my shrunken cock.

Anyway, this concept of equality is stupid. It will never be. As transgenders are technically the closest we will ever acknowledge as strict equal. They get to choose. You know, because...uh...homosexuality isn't a choice...right?

I don't care if a chick with a dick used men's rooms. I'm not even sure why anyone would care. Except maybe, in terms of guys pretending to be chicks to see women's cooters. But...in all seriousness, who wants to watch a woman pee? Um...without paying for it.

Get on with us getting on. We all shit and piss. You don't need a stupid President to tell us which one to use.

"Timecop" Predicted A President Trump Type

At 28 minutes 38 seconds in the 1993 movie "Timecop" a senator's aid is rattling off numbers to  poll which talks of his popularity amongst surburbia but not so much in "urban areas" he's gaining popularity in pro-life, pro-death penalty coalition, and with a "Close our Border America for Americans Anti-American Immigration faction".

There also 4 other references, including a moment when he talks to an advisor and declares that people don't care about issues or truth, they only care about money. Which is what Trump seems to have followed the same philosophy.

Of course, if I saw this, billions of nerds must have saw it too. Sure enough...a video on YouTube drawing the same comparison.

This is early 90's political cynicism. We're in 2017.

What does that say to me? Exactly ehat I've been saying. The American presidency is not about doing anything for the people. It is about money. Trump is already rich and most likely rich people can never be rich enough. But he also has rich friends. Obama's story was much more digestible for the new softer world. With a friendly smile and a speech about love and tolerance, it placated the left. Much as Trump panders to the right.

I had always wondered where I decided the government isn't that interested in me. Only that I am some dollar amount or social security number they can fleece. I think Trump rhetoric is a massive rebound from too much kumbaya rhetoric.

Peace is the ultimate goal. We all live under the same sky. I have no beef with any religion, except the ones who want me dead. All religions tend to flow for the good. For the most part. Live with harmony with each other and ideas. The only argument I have with people is that they meet me halfway as much as I need to meet them halfway.

Trump isn't the problem. As historical relevance as silly a movie like "Timecop" may be..it still tells us the fundamental core of why we fight amongst each other is that we like conflict. Which is fine to admit.

Boycotting Shit

Ivanka and Tiffany Trump remind me of those girls in high school that would ignore me. And then win all the social contests. Homecoming and prom queen. Well...look at us now in the real world, bitches!!!! I can control your destiny by me not buying your clothes, perfume, jewelry, wine or...what I assume next baked goods. So suck it, whores!

But people...let's get real. They didn't know we existed then...they don't know we exist now.
Big corporate stores like Nordstrom have distanced themselves from the Ivanka brand. And people went batshit. I thought we were smarter than this. It was free advertisement for a dying place. Department stores. No one can afford that shit anymore. And EBay is always price undercutting. So, the slow death continues for brick and mortar retail. What a shame. Kids aren't going to remember hanging at the mall scopin' out the babes. Going to the movie store and thumbing through the videos and music. Or posters of Heather Thomas.

God, being a teen now would suck.

That Blah Feeling

Even though we die alone does not mean we live alone. Many people are lonely. No one ever knows why. I guess because we can never truly expressed our disappointments and fears without judgement. Most of us will live in the standards of others. Even if we don't mean to.

To be perfectly honest, no one should really listen to what I write. Though if it makes your life better for knowing misery loves company, I am at your service. For the most part life is one big sticker shock. For everyone.

Sticker shock is when you are blindsided by an amount you were never intending on. That is a big part of it. The daughter you found out you have, the car breaks down, your rent gets increased, you lose your job, you get a job, you find love, you lose love, someone you love dies, you...die.

And yes...the initial punch hurts like shit. But it subsides. Some more permanent than others. But it subsides. It's unfortumate that the pain doesn't go immediately. We are saddled with draining mental thoughts. We suffer or we distract ourselves.

Sometimes even regret can haunt you for life. Turn it to art. And let us all understand...we are not alone.

The Treasure PT. 1

The city honored the Roman brothers Romulus and Remus. If you Google them, you would discover they founded Rome. Though it takes its name from another Roman statesman by the name of  Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. How would you guess, when over 80% of the population was German or Irish?
Sure didn’t matter to Lucas Anderson, a typical foppish freshman, as he sat in the back of the Latin class bored out of his mind.
In front of him was the object of his wandering gaze, Mia Giancello. Already a busty senior, she was a fantasy like a Sophia Loren, but with blonde hair, perfect skin and teeth. As she conjugated Latin, her heart shape mouth would curl, giving Lucas a massive erection. Just thinking about that mouth. THAT mouth –
PLICK!
“Ow” Lucas howled. The class turned to see him rub his ear. Mr. Dohickey, the Latin teacher glared at him. Behind him, giggling uncontrollably was Tim Schwartz, a jock who wore everything high school sports related. Even donned a headband with “Shawnee High.”
“Wake up Anderson, you boob. Stop looking at my woman.” Lucas was caught. He knew he was caught. He turned back to the front as the teacher continued to rattle on.
RING!
Class ended, as students vomited into the hallway.
Lucas scurried out with books under arm. Hoping to not be noticed.
“Why the hurry!?” an arm barred his progress. It was connected to a freckled redhead string bean named Johnny Riordan. Who kids just called—
“Red! Thank God, it’s just you.” Lucas was in no mood to talk.
“Yeah, dingus. What’s the hurry?”
“Schwartz-alert.”
“Ah, man. You can’t let cro-magnons push you around. Shit.”
“He caught me looking at Mia.”
“Now that’s someone who can push me around. Push my ding-a-ling around. If you catch my drift.”
Lucas realized…there was no real drift to catch.
“I gotta bolt, before he gets out”
“Quit yer whining, Luc. God, you can be an old lady.”
It wasn’t necessarily a conscious thing as it was then, but it is now. It was great to have a friend like Red. Red is an awkward looking kid who didn’t care what anyone thought of him. He wore t-shirts that expressed the phrases of the time. In this case “Whatchoo’ Talking About!” was the hot one. He also took his share of beatings. Not only at school, but at home with a drunken Dad, a Korean War veteran.
He was one of those kids who never let that part effect the goof-ball nature. Perhaps hiding deep dark anger. A happy go-lucky guy who Lucas was fortunate to have around, as he felt life couldn’t be worse as it was for Red. He was also that kid who was rumored to carry a gun around. Though not even Lucas wanted to find out.
To be continued….

A Day Without An Immigrant

Today, some fuckface came up with the idea of...staying home from work or school to protest against the vetting of refugee immigrants into this country.

A few things. one...vetting or now, extreme vetting, has always been in place. Despite staying home to protest. Or going to work/school to protest. Second, I'm paying a cleaning lady today $40 to clean one room. Yes, ONE room. She jumped at the chance, since I am too ignorant to know what's fair. She is a Hispanic woman who barely speaks English.

Motherfucker...that is MORE than I make!!!

No one is upset about immigration. People are really pissed about illegal immigration. Also, I really do hope you stay home today. Los Angeles traffic sucks. I blame you.

Actors' Journey

I had an interesting conversation with an actress I've known for a while.
She lamented that people around her are now paid talent while she lingers in just getting by.
I couldn't help but feel a little sorry, since we'd done a few projects together, and more than likely some were waiting for me to get my shit together.
I did. But in a different way.

What I realized after a few moments was...some people are unwilling to compromise.

The biggest death sentence of anyone who wants to keep working in this town is...sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war. In this case, it was the inability to understand there are other options.

See, THE single greatest derailment of anyone working in this business of show, is that they listen to people who have cracked a small window of opportunity. Their path is paved with statements such as "I never gave up. I stood my ground. I was willing to _______" The ultimate truth is...some people just wait. Waiting for calls. Waiting for their friends to make something. Waiting, waiting and more waiting. Never doing. Though waiting sometimes feels like doing. It's not.

What people who have cracked the code should be saying...do anything. And make your own shit. Which is easier said than done. Since you can make your own shit for decades and never be successful (depending on your definition). This town...as described by critic Roger Ebert, is a town full of non-permanence. A strange culture of people doing that they can to work in Hollywood, but never considering it home. Ever. No matter how comfortable you feel here.

As I was listening to my friend sadly draw the conclusion that the roles she wanted to do are closing, it dawned on me, which I would never speak aloud...some people won't get on that ship. The boat looks big, but it's filled to capacity. This is not to discourage ANY of you for trying, but there is reality as well.

I have another friend who has drawn to a slow conclusion that acting can be more of a hobby now. A few glimpses of what could be is all she needs to function. She has no illusion of grandeur, but allows herself the pleasure of dipping a toe here and there. The life is terrible and crushing and somewhere deep inside, it's more than likely a demon must be slayed. Despite what friends or family will say or with the right type of encouragement.

I recall moments of just...a window of opportunity that can be filled with regret. The road not taken...maybe. These added up can lead to a complete shutdown of your hopes. Of being wanted and adored as a celebrity. The work is there, the mountain is daunting. And when you start to see more years behind than in front, it's not an admission of failure. It's realization life is too short to struggle for something that isn't all that important. I guess that's why people such as Meryl Streep needs to change the world. There is no other Hollywood worlds to conquer. And why a lot of actors/actresses turn to just causes.

It's also not quitting if you choose to do other things while you pursue your acting hopes. A side job (aside from the cliched waiter/ress/tender) is not something to scoff at. Though, I understand some fear the comfortable pillow this can eventually become. I'm not going to lie, the initial shock will make you question your path to stardom. But, if a regulated schedule with a steady paycheck makes you question your struggles to become an actor, it's more than likely you should question that choice.

ScarJo Says...Monogamy Isn't Natural

Scarlett Johansson believes monogamy isn't natural. Bitch, stop getting married.
Also...living isn't natural. But we do it. Not necessarily with the option of every middle aged mook wanting to bang you. But...we're as faithful as our options. Stick that in your cunt and cry.

Also, this dummy admitted to voting for Hilary Clinton because she was a woman. That is an unbelievable thing to admit to. What got Trump elected were idiots like this. Or the idiots who voted for Trump because they didn't want a woman. See how dumb that sounds?

I don't ever want to meet this stupid idiot in any capacity. She had a window where she seemed bangable...which, by all accounts, the fact that she got an abortion seemed that things are wrecked down there anyway. Would you like to wager when she comes out as a lesbian?

Karlie Kloss And Her Racist Jap Outfit

Is this racist?
Fuck no. A hot blonde dressed like a Japanese hooker is...hot. In fact, she's probably carrying around the balls of her defeated enemies...other hot blondes who tried out for the part.
This is what she looks like when she isn't slanting her eyes:
What I do love about the outrage is that the snakes are swallowing their own tongue. YES folks, outrage has no boundaries. Right, Left, Black, Yellow, White, Green...maybe this is what they mean by finally being equal. We're all so equally pissed at nothing.

And you fucking stupid Asian people who are outraged...I hate your fucking guts. Why? Because you have better things to do than to read VOGUE magazine. Jesus. I guess I do too. But now I'm even more pissed, because you've just made me look it up in VOGUE magazine.
Now I can't even beat off to it. Thanks.

Retirement Radical

Hey again, you fag-bots...
...I had this conversation with a co-worker today about his Pop who just retired and is bored.
I had this idea about...recruiting for terrorist. See, this asswipes have been dipping into the 17-30 year olds. Why? Because they're bored and useless. Well...why not the 70-80 year olds? They're also bored and useless.

Let's face it, everyone needs a purpose. People are afraid to retire and not have anything going on. Too old to go to strip clubs every night. Too young to die.

Speaking of which, what's this about Congress signing over mentally ill people able to purchase guns? Motherfuckers are whack! The LAST thing you want is mentally ill owning guns. I DON'T need to own a fucking gun. God...this administration is going to piss me off. Time for me to go looking for my geriatric jihadists!

Just kidding, federal snoops. This is a fucking joke. Maybe you're too retarded to figure it out.

Hand in your fucking gun.

Valentine's Day 2017

I know this day bugs women like you wouldn't believe.
You can tell the ones that it hits the hardest by the post they make on social media. It's downplaying the event to show how insignificant this day is. When, in reality, they are empty and lonely inside.

I do that too. Goofing off when pain hits deep. They can't face the reality that some people have found love. Or their significant other has done something special for them. I would argue, finding a relationship is pretty remarkable.

The ones that disappear for this one day...it probably bugs them the most. It bugs me to see the ones I stalk gone. Har-de-har. It's funny to me, because for this one day, it seems people are weakened like when Superman is a little less super when there is a solar eclipse (he gets his power from the sun, dum-dums).

I'm not sure which I would hate more. Being at home with a girlfriend on this day when you forgot the day...OR her being on her period.

Happy Valentine's Day, jagoffs!

"Coyote Ugly" Unrated Version (2000)

Gather around children, as I tell you the tale of women who ran a bar in New York City pre-9/11. Shakin' their tushes for dough and living the high life. Nearly 20 years ago. And two Twin Towers later.

I got the unrated DVD on this and hadn't yet seen why...but Piper Perabo as Violet stage named "Jersey" gets buck nekkid and dirty with Adam someone something.

Directed by Kevin McNally the guy who brought you commercials, and produced by Super Producer of the pre-millenial Jerry Bruckheimer, "Coyote Ugly" is a movie that existed in a time when nothing was un-PC. In fact the name of the bar is after a one-night stand where you wake up sober and you'd rather gnaw your arm off than wake that ugly person up. Har-har.

The story is of a New Jersey songwriter Violet who ventures out to the big bad city of New York and attempts to break into the music industry. Many who watch this now will probably laugh themselves stupid. Because the idea is unheard of now (hint: because music industry is dead). But back then, this babe in toyland suffered the indignities of the city to come out...a superstar? Yeah, you could get away with it back then. Now...we're too smart. I guess. Internet is faster and we would fat shame Violet into voice over work.

BUT, I think there is a valuable lesson to be learned here. Nothing you want comes easy. Not even as easy as Violet seemed to have it. She isn't really seen as struggling. Only being naive, until she stumbles onto the thing she was meant to become. But, persistence is the key here. She never gave up...thanks Mia of "La La Land" world. And, though it is somewhat a dangerous lesson to be learned, since most likely Violet's first adventure to NYC would be violent and deadly, it wouldn't make much of a movie if she just got gang-raped and left for dead in some gutter while NYC ambulators stepped over her. Funny, yes...inspiring...no.

This is a very underrated movie. Which I think will get discovered again. Eventually. It's no "Dirty Dancing" but in this retro world, I think people are going to forget our grungy selves and just enjoy a movie about girls who dance on bars for money.

The Grammys

This award is now functioning on life support. Poor music.
I blame all the assholes who sample. And rap. Rap is not music. Take it for what it is, it's not music. It's rhythm and got a beat. It's not music. So fuck yourselves.

When the children took over the music world, you get fat Beyonce...which I cracked was Nell Carter and no one got it. SO much for referential humor. This is spectacle. Use to be spectacle followed music. Now it follows politics. NOT to say bands like Buffalo Springfield or Dusty Springfield or...uh...Rick Springfield didn't sing about the war or A war, it's just they did it without all the costumes and pageantry and fucking annoying self-righteous narcissistic horseshit you see today. You wonder why Trump won.

YOU are why Trump won, and YOU will vote him back into office for 4 more years. You fucking assholes. So stop it. The best you can do is silently put him out of business. Which is being done. This whole notion to "make people aware" is fucking dumb. Seriously. Dumb. People do agree with you and the people who don't won't agree with you. Start living with that fact instead of thinking you're smarter and cooler than everyone else.

God, make it about music again.

"John Wick 2" (2017)

I would've subbed it "it's wickety wack!"

Once again, our titular character Wick is on the move. It's days after the first movie, and now he's going after his stolen car. Guess what? He owed MORE people..something about a favor in order for Wick to get out of this life. Let's be real...we don't want him out. We want him to slay his own people. Which...it seems if you're not a part of their assassin's club, you might as well be dead.

It's an aggravating scenario all to paint one flaw...killing begets killing begets more killing. And the smart ones find a way out rather than live in fear.

The movie is fun, but what bugs me is the subtle not subtle language. What began as clever innuendo and subtext becomes their winky language which...after s few minutes...you really figure you're watching a movie. Also, there is a sad lack of police response...anywhere and everywhere. Not everyone is a part of the Matrix...I mean...John Wick world so it grates on me that he's spinning his wheels. This syndicate, which is clearly the masons, seem to control every corner of the city. I suppose Wick is the chosen one. So...his whip gunfire and sloppy hand combat is what the price of freedom hangs its hat on. Honestly, I could use less of guys coming around corners to get blasted in the face, ala video game. Don't you think at some point the baddies would know not to go around corners no matter how much money they get.

The movie becomes sillier than that when an all points bulletin gets jammed into effect rendering essentially a death sentence to Wick  I mean everyone eyeballs him. All makes, all models. Fat, short...at some point I was expecting a baby to pop out of carriage to stink eye him.

Is it fun? Yeah. Loud but fun. Most likely a nice diversion from deeper darker Oscar season. And yes...there is going to be a 3rd one.

"Bad News Bears" (1976)

Fatherless or lame pop kids will live this movie.
Somehow, the message may be lost on the kids who showed up at the New Beverly with their Dad to relive a tradition that may exist only for those at an age where you went to movies alone.

Tom Cruise and Quentin Tarantino had cited this their favorite movie...ever. I can see why. There is no real redemption of Walter Matthau's Buttermaker's character. He's a drunk bum. He accepted a job to coach little league baseball to supplement a lame pool cleaning service in L.A.'s San Fernando Valley. Back when it was REALLY white.

With kids screaming "Jews, niggers, spics and retards" I seriously pity kids today. Not because they don't get to be racist. It's because movies don't allow you. The portrayal of kids in this movie are real. Take it to playing XBox live...and you hear an 8 year old calling people "chinks and niggers." They learn that shit from other kids. Kids are kids

Also what's missing today? Faith your kids don't need your stupid ass to be around them. My sister is slowly learning that teens will venture out. Hopefully not to do anything criminal, but to explore the world. People think they know shit because of the internet. In that aspect, the world has become smaller.

I really miss this world of misfit boys who hung out with drunks who could care less about their safety. Well, care enough when a victory is within grasp. This is a real character. People's motivation rises to the top if or when it means something is returned.

This movie holds up. Not in style. But in tone. It's trsgically funny. And goes to dark places. As when Amanda (played by the super cute Tatum O'Neal) desperately wants to be a girl and a daughter, but is brutally rejected...it stopped the theater dead quiet.

Excellent film directed by Michael Ritchie.

Deportations

What part of "Trump's Not Fucking Around" was I not clear on?

Well, to be fair, President Obama deported over 3 million people in 8 years. So, be honest, this is not that big of a deal. Who makes it a big deal? Whining illegals. Because now it's not a Democrat doing it. Which draws light to their cause.

I heard a "This American Life" about a border patrol agent who was interviewed about the protection of the border, from the south. Here's what's weird...Mexico refuses to extradite our criminals for us to punish but does nothing about the ones who travel to America. In the interview, most "wolves" who take jumpers across the border also coach them when patrol comes around. Under the Obama administration, you could get away with saying things like "my sister is in trouble and will be murdered by a gang." The United States cannot turn away this plea for help. Other phrases too that they've learned over a network we were unaware of. It's wild. So, basically, border patrol is what they call the unofficial welcome wagon. Something know as "catch and release." What happens is, they are given a meal then released into America, where they are suppose to show up to court to contest their presence in America. Fuck that. They take off deep into the United States, go under an assume name and sometimes social security number and, that's the last we hear from them.

Until now.

I was surprise to learn the most recent one was a Mexican lady who had been here for over 21 years. Has teenage kids. Most likely spoke English fluently and...well...why the fuck didn't you just get your citizenship.

I think the answer is...people are scared. I don't blame them. My parents were equally as distrustful of American government (under Jimmy Carter). Though, Carter seemed like such a nice dude. Compared to Trump's bloated angry face. Much like Obama seems like such a reasonable dude. Which is why this lady, illegally voted for him. Most likely voted for Hilary Clinton.

Sucks, yes. But we can't pick and choose the laws we want to follow.

Case in point, on the same podcast, I read about Iraqis who had assisted Americans in translating. They risked life and limb and family protection to assist Americans. A certain death sentence. The idea was that they would also get asylum in America afterwards. Truth be told...they've earned their way before me. And it's heartbreaking to hear...our military and government turned our backs on them. Due to the same bureaucracy that closes borders.

This is why this issue is so painful to deal with. And so polarizing. On one side the argument is whether or not certain circumstances require a place at the table in America. While others are...the law is the law for a reason. I understand both and thankfully, I don't have to make the cruel decision I know others are suffering over.

The Imm-igants!

That's Moe Sizlack on whom we should blame:
Be Like Moe.

Patriots Super Bowl White House Boycott

I doubt anyone gives a flying shit if you boycott the White House. Though, I'd go just to get a snack.

Speaking of which...you rich dumb boycotting assholes...guess who he's protecting? Yer rich dumbasses. Yeah...there is hypocrisy there, but it's not from the correct camp.

I didn't give a shit Tom Brady didn't want to see Obama, I sure as shit don't care if some no-name defensive back is boycotting. Fuck...I don't even know what position he plays. Just figure DBs are the dumbest.

Betsy DeVos Paid For Her Job

A rich woman who has never taught in school is now in charge of our nation's education. She has been accused of buying senator votes.

Good.

Yep..I said it. Good. Bout time kids really learn the truth about life. People are cheap.

Here's what's strange though...it's not exactly buying all the votes. You need majority. Which would mean people who voted for her didn't paid. To which, maybpeople will now laugh and say "idiots should've taken the dough."

You can't win with the emotional Left.
I really couldn't tell you who all these assholes are. Frankly...education in this country seems to suck. Which, you gotta wonder...how much reliance are you really leaning on teachers for to force your dumb kid to read? Chances are the willingness to gather information yourself doesn't mostly come from teachers. It comes from natural curiosity.

The Army

My nephew is going into the U.S. Army.
I am incredibly proud of him for his service to America. Proud that he will give himself the discipline and determination to make a great soldier...
..
...
So why do I desperately don't want him to go?

When I was a teen, I sidestepped the military because I valued education. And there were more people who volunteered than drafted. That was the first Gulf War which very little happened. Most likely you's die from boredom than enemy fire. We are in a different world now where young men are sent into harm's way, and some don't come back right. I listen to podcasts where soldiers do return...but are different. They've seen in done things in polite company can never be discussed. Humans going against their natural tendency of not killing.

And everyone's experience will be different my nephew's safety is what I'm so worried about. I rarely see him exercise common sense. And charm isn't going to make enemies any less aggressive. Especially if you are infantry. I considered myself so lucky I grew up in between wars and never had to consider it. I feel so sick my nephew does. Not just him, but anyone who serves.

Is this decision right? I'm wishing it was never on the table.

It Doesn't Work Like That

So Trump's latest thing is, if something bad with a terror attack, it's the fault of you assholes who let them in.
Hahaha. I'm getting off the floor laughing, because this is something a child would do.
Or "The Simpsons":
You can't blame people for wanting to follow the tradition of America. Otherwise we wouldn't have apple pie, baseball and your Mom. As the saying goes.

I get what Trump is saying though. I just think it's funny it makes people angry. So immature.

Shaming

You know...the liberal 8 years we spent condemning shaming? That's done. It's both sides seeing who can go lower. Which, the polarizing President has exposed what people really are about.

Shame and guilt to a lot of people, moves mountains, when I was a kid. Nowadays...you attempt to shame anyone, they get so offended they lash out. The asshole who parks in the middle of the road to wait for someone? Just typing that made my blood boil.

This bounce back from non-shaming to constant shaming is actually...maybe a good thing. What I hear more and more from people is that not everyone should get a trophy. My 18 year old nephew's generation may be the stoic bounceback from entitlement. He's a shithead, but I think our Gen-X parenting fucked them up royally. You can't smack them, and you can mock them. In other words, you can't toughen them up for society.

People suck, and I learned that later in life. This is NOT the same as saying I Hate People. People make it difficult to do certain things. As does the ebbs and flows of society. Especially one that no longer requires your services.

I think that why old people go nutty. Going back to my purpose talk. Everyone needs a place in society.

I hope liberals will come to realize that they are no better than conservatives. Both extremes don't work. Like comedian Chris Rock put it, you can be liberal on some things and conservative on others. To judge people also on those extremes is already unfair. I still believe we're more moderate than we let on. Though kicking up hornets nest has its entertainment. Be careful it doesn't spill to reality.

Lady GaGa's Halftime Show

Her songs sound familiar as they are blasted through bars, gyms, stores and virtually every nook and cranny of your brain.

I'm old man Shitpants who don't really get it and don't care if I'm uncool that I don't.

Lady Gaga is a weird looking chick. I should be lucky to break off any of that. But she definitely reminds me of street. Some turn of the century face stuck in 21st century. And apparently she can sing. As if it mattered.

Her show was a spectacle. Dancing, prancing and fire. Everyone loves fire. She was somewhat channeling the late David Bowie though also fiercely competing with Tina Turner for wasteland minions.

The Black lady who sat behind me at the bar was yelling phrases such as "you go girl" and "hmm-mm..that's my girl." Which amused me. The long reach of music extends to everyone. Which is Gaga's message. Everyone is equal..ahem...if you like her music. She doesn't need a dope like me to care, though this new government regime we're dealing with now...those ideas are done for. You aren't that unique if you follow her army. And I'm not unique for going against her music. We're trying to make art that effects people positively. If people hold onto Gaga's message literally...great. This opens one up for massivr disappointment. But...if it inspires you to make your own art...it is invaluable.

Recently, I got an interesting message from a guy from New York who saw a short I did on film and felt he needed to write me to talk about film. I was moved something I did moved him. The community isn't as big as we realize. As humans we do exist to create.

Super Bowl LI (51)

There are a few things people are going to remember from this game. The Julio Jones miracle catch. Trumped only by the miracle/David Tyree Curse Killing Julian Edelman Immaculate Reception II, the 21 unanswered points in the 4th quarter solidifying Tom Brady/Bill Belicheck dynasty to give the Super Bowl win to the Patriots over the Atlants Falcons.

This meant so much for so many people, since it ran a political aspect too. See Robert Kraft, the owner of the Patriots also supports Donald Trump. Literally everyone wanted them to lose. Bad. Let me take that back...everyone who hates president Trump wanted the Patriots to lose.

And they were. All the way to the half. Which is when you saw Falcons derail. What I think happen...Belicheck. Coaches desperately want to outthink him. Happened to Pete Carroll when he didn't call a time out and instead of running the ball at the one yard line through a dominating Marshawn Lynch, Carroll attempted to outthink Belicheck and throw the ball...to Malcolm Butler. Butler plays for the Pats.

I think most people dislike the Pats simply because they represent the arrogance of America. They do. A America that was aggressive and brash. That already felt victory before the war. That stuck together in terrible moments. They win. And people know they win. Brady is blessed with work ethic which led to skill, a supermodel wife and money. People hate that that much can go to one person. I don't begrudge the guy (only that he went to Michigan).

Brady and the Pats somehow represent a bygone era of privilege. I think the name itself illustrates that. Which I found odd that a certain percentage of Americans were against that.

Regardless, respect for the Patriots. As a team, they were the best and unstoppable.

As for me, I'll always be curious as to why the Falcons didn't run down the clock with 3 minutes 11 seconds with a lead and Patriots hadn2 timeouts. Not to play Monday morning quarterback, but...I sense this was still trying to outthink Belicheck.

We Were All Meant To Go Alone

If you think about the best movies you've, it is typically the journey of one person. Two people seem to dilute the cause. Action movies seem different. Since buddy-cop became its own thing. For me...the longer you stay with one person, the better.

I understand the case for introducing people though. Life is enjoyed between two combatants. We love and laugh at conflict. My favorite movies are more the "Jewish love stories" where the biggest antagonist are themselves.

So I sit here wondering whslat movie I want to make. I've stockpiled so much film, it's time for me to make something. Making a feature film is such an undertaking. And I respect the people who have made one, even if they are bad. There is so much respect for anyone who tackles this. Especially in this town. Sure digital technology has made it simpler for anyone to make a hour and a half story. Still...it's always the execution. I'll wish you luck if you wish me luck.

So You Want To Make Studio Movies

I lived at a time when movies took 3 months to shoot and another year to finish.

Those days are gone. Most of the big studios want you done and in theaters in months. This could be good or bad dependent on who you are as a filmmaker. For instance, for me...it would be good. Since it would rely on instinct rather than unlimited time to overthink. Given time, most people overthink it. Instinct is best, though sometimes this requires a level of experience. You know what you want...move on.

I personally would not recommend any creative type to set their sites to make movies for studios. For one thing, they are about to die. And die in a way I think is unrecoverable. Studios are slowly starting to rent out their lot...similar to what Fox did in the 70's before "Star Wars" reset their clock. Today...content is within streaming house. Netflix, Amazon, Apple are all throwing their hat into the ring of original content. And gobbling up subscriptions. No advertising money means...no television. Which is hilarious that Trump is cutting back on public t.v. It's all going to be that soon.

What does it mean for aspiring artist? Good things...I think. It means you make your own movies with your own dough and get one of these companies to buy it. You get your creative control AND have no one but yourself to motivate. That means no scumbag producer to take credit. You can be a one man band. Well, duh! You say? Yeah, this is more reason to live in a nice mellow workflow that YOU design. You are not at the mercy of some supposed brass ring that is dying. I find that a liberating thought.

I feel bad for our traditions though. A film studio backlot is a amazing place of standing history of storytelling. A lot of these places have supplemented themselves into mini-amusement parks and attractions. Dunno how long they can sustain that. History of movies...I just love it. I'm not sure why. Other than it is about memories and feelings. Some thing we may be sorely lacking these days.

Get out there and make your movie. I'll do the same.
