Actors Know
A while back I shot a feature film where the main baddie in it was a very known commercial actor now. Back then, he didn't do all that much. A bunch of television, but recognizable.
I recall going to the premiere of the movie, and well...people had a good time watching it. Sort of. It looked amateurish, but I'd run out of energy to fix what I thought was wrong visually about it. The director moved on with his life. Though, I discovered later on, he should have fought harder. The business side is ugly and almost don't want to come to terms with it.
What struck me was that the actor didn't say much to anyone and left early. Like pretty much when the lights came up. As did one of the side actresses. They just left. I didn't flag them down to schmooze and he didn't stick around to get other opinions. I scratched my head, unsure what that meant, since people seemed to respond to the movie.
Well, he knew it was a piece of shit. He didn't want to have to swallow that much pride and attempt to put his best face forward. I don't give actors that much credit, as I should, but I think actors do know what is bad and good. Some move on quickly to the next thing, because they have no real time to gauge, but I believe they do understand how it can derail. And I would hope they understand where that comes from.
The producer/director/writer role is SO different when money is on the line. Most actors DO put their best forward, because if money is involved, the logic is...the person knows what they're doing. But there is a lot of waste in movies at any level. I would hate for an actor to see something they were in and just realized that lottery ticket was a dud.
It's also hard to pretend everything is okay. After the fiasco of "The Last Action Hero" where Arnold Schwarzenegger hustled that movie like it was a newborn child...it's near impossible to shake off the stink of failure (it's a decent movie). It does take someone with that ego to overcome it. But you can also see the gradual downfall of Arnold's career AFTER that movie that has everyone scared.
None of this is fucking easy, people. When others' believe this to be fun, it's disheartening, because of the constant pressure one puts on themselves not to disappoint. We don't make movies in a vacuum. I know most actors don't want to give you the reality of their feeling towards your project, because...well, they're in it...but more importantly, NO ONE knows how the public will eventually find it.

John Carpenter's "Halloween" Behind the scenes
I re-watched a documentary on the making of "Halloween." The movie is closing in on 40 years (next year).
It's funny how close success and failure is. When Carpenter showed this movie to his alma mater at University of Southern California, a student asked why he would make this type of schlock. Carpenter's answer was to walk out of the Q&A.
He thought he had a failure on his hands. With a budget of $300,000 or with Donald Pleasance's salary of $25,000 (should've taken the points) $325k, it was a small gamble but a gamble nonetheless for Moustapha Akkad, the producer who gave them the money.
This is what I miss about the old ways of making movies and DON'T miss about the old ways of making movies.
So, given a small pitch idea of a babysitter murder, he was given a miniscule budget to make a movie. Gambling on Carpenter, who had one low-budget credit to his name. Who went on to beat the odds, because of word of mouth. THESE DAYS, forget it. Your movie doesn't have time to grow. But there are more opportunities for people to give you money to make movies.

Universal Health Care
Look, even Hitler wanted universal health care. But here's the deal...how do you pay for it?
Time was people had a tacit agreement with each other that said they wouldn't take advantage of the situation. Now we got guys driving BRAND NEW SUVs who are 18. So, the liberals say I shouldn't judge. Nope, this asshole is the one that is keeping it from happening. YOU should judge. You should feel that the money that went to fund this asshole's ride with shiny rims is what is preventing everyone from getting health care. Because it's not just about the car. It's about taking advantage of the system and being proud of it.
The idea of health care for all is a great notion. But it doesn't mean, for the idiots or illegals who come to this country, you exploit it. Immigrants back in the day felt an unbelievable responsibility to give back. Now...nope. That agreement is gone because people are actually celebrating bucking the system. So now we have people having kids they can't afford from countries they flee from so....they can take advantage of America's dying industry. Yes, health...in some irony, is dying here, because being a doctor is synonymous with being...uh..a mechanic. It doesn't have the prestige it use to have because they're treating people who are fucking with the system. And in this miserable state, they have people who willfully find ways to take away from federal. And it will continue to get worse.
I am surprise the Left do not see that their own people are the ones causing this awful mess. When I was in college, I didn't go to the doctor once. I couldn't even tell you where the hospital was. If this offsets someone else...ONE OTHER PERSON'S use of hospitals multiple times...I'm for it. In fact...I didn't even have health care from my folks (they didn't see a point). Nowadays, you'd be insane not to get it. The horror stories is that people go bankrupt over it.
So, if we're demanding universal free health care, also remember to get your citizenship and pay for the others as well. It's funny how when you start to pay for things, how you start to see other people who exploit the problem.

Brad Pitt Sober
For the past 6 months anyway.

that "truthfully, I could drink a Russian under the table with his own
vodka. I was a professional. I was good." But he's since replaced
alcohol with "cranberry juice and fizzy water.
I knew he was a boozer. Boozers can tell other boozers. But it must be really hard to admit to the public that you have these issues. Especially because he is so successful. But pain is deeper and you feel much less alone when you know it can also befall the "sexiest man alive." No one can accept the entire truth of purpose. What we were meant to do. And what we mean to people. I suppose you could say his loss of family may be a reason to sober up. It's terrible and I'm sure we're going to eventually learn darker things about his past history. Something that this industry preys on. The darker angrier most painful life experiences tend to translate to making sure entertainment is the forefront. To dull a pain that most can't describe. The dissatisfaction of success, and sometimes the bitter rejection of failure.
It occurs at any age, just be prepared for it all. We will have much pain. And if you happen to be a celebrity, most will mock it.

In it, he stood up for CBS reporter John Dickerson, whose interview with Trump was cut short by the president, who was being repeatedly questioned about his allegations that President Barack Obama had ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower during the campaign.
"Sir, you attract more skinheads than free Rogaine," Colbert said during the rant. "You have more people marching against you than cancer. You talk like a sign-language gorilla who got hit in the head. In fact, the only thing your mouth is good for is being Vladimir Putin's c--k holster."
Ouch. Many are saying this is homophobic and such. I don't get that at all. It's saying Putin is enjoying D in the mouth, right?
